SELBY BUSINESS PARK BOUGHT BY FAMILY INVOLVED IN ITS CREATION

The Hunt family, which owns a number of construction and development-related businesses in the north, has acquired the 26,840 sq ft Abbey Court at Selby Business Park after it was placed on the market following the closure of developer Priority Sites.

Abbey Court is a successful, multi-let office park comprising 15 separate buildings.

Located on the A63 Selby bypass, the high-specification scheme is now 70 per cent let, with occupiers including Doosan Babcock, Morgan Lambert and The Skills Network Ltd.

The family’s construction business, Britcon, was the main building contractor for Abbey Court in 2010.

Shaun Hunt, chief executive of the Hunt Group, said: “We are delighted to acquire Abbey Court. Having built it ourselves we are well aware of the build credentials that have earned the site a BREEAM Excellent award and its future-proof attributes for efficiency that make it a strong long-term investment opportunity.

“We have already introduced our in-house service management team, HG Property Management, to provide tenants with best value coupled with very high standards of service through our regular site maintenance programme and open-door policy.”

Two former development managers of Priority Sites Limited, who have collaborated to form Priority Space Limited, have also been appointed to manage the asset for the Hunt family.

Director Adam Richardson said: “Having had historic involvement with the site we are delighted to re-engage the process with the Hunt family and progress the lettings efforts. Since the Hunt family acquisition we have already agreed deals to let 1,688 sq ft to Backoffice Nationwide Ltd and 1,414 sq ft to Drenched Ltd.”

Only four-and-a-half buildings remain to let at Abbey Court with suites ranging from 703 sq ft to 6,568 sq ft plus parking.

PPH Commercial has been appointed to market the scheme.
