WHY DONCASTER’S BUOYANT ECONOMY COULD BE ON THE VERGE OF ‘GREAT THINGS’

That’s the view of property expert Ian Brooks, who specialises in the sales and lettings of commercial properties in the town.

Mr Brooks has gained decades of experience with PPH Commercial, based on Sidings Court in Doncaster, and he’s been heartened by the impressive interest shown in the area during the opening months of 2018.

He said: “The industrial market in Doncaster remains the strongest performing commercial property sector at present.

“In my experience, this is due to increased business confidence in the town – and its ambitious long-term growth plans.

“Businesses are excited by the town’s location, its excellent national transport links and its aspirations to be at the heart of the Yorkshire economy.

“In recent months, this has resulted in steady demand for new build units and a short supply of good quality second-hand stock for companies who are looking to relocate.”

Ambitious infrastructure plans in place to develop Robin Hood Airport, which could see 7km of new track laid from the East Coast Mainline and a railway station being built at Finningley.

Not only would this improve the airport’s ability to handle freight, it could open up its catchment area to allow 10 million people to access it within 90 minutes.

The local council and the region’s economic leaders believe this will help to regenerate the surrounding area.

However, the amount of interest PPH Commercial has fielded so far in 2018 proves that Doncaster is already a thriving place to do business.

Mr Brooks explained: “The high-spec Sky Park development, which is adjacent to Robin Hood Airport, has been the subject of notable interest this year – with a number of units either already let or in legal hands.

“This is understandable because it boasts ten Grade-A units with production and warehouse space that is in high demand and short supply.

“The Martree Business Park, on Wheatley Hall Road, is another good example of somewhere which generated interest as soon as we brought it to market.

“Five of the 16 units have already been let, a further three are in legal hands and with significant momentum gathering on the development, we’ve been contacted by a number of interested parties who are keen to secure the remaining units.

“With freehold office space in Doncaster also in demand, there are plenty of signs that the town is a very attractive proposition for both new and established businesses.

“If the airport’s ambitious growth plans come to fruition, I’m sure this will only continue to be the case and the town will be destined for great things in the future.”
