Ten new jobs created as West Building Supplies expands into Beverley

TEN new jobs are to be created in Beverley after PPH Commercial agreed a deal to bring a major regional builder’s merchant to the town.

West Building Supplies Ltd, which has a warehouse and distribution centre in Bridlington and 1.5 acre depot in Scarborough, has negotiated a significant long-term lease at Venridge House, on Grovehill Road.

Located in the heart of Beverley’s trade district, the detached industrial property boasts 13,986 sq ft of modern warehouse and office space.

West Building Supplies serves the trade and public, offering kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, lighting, landscaping decorative paving, fencing, decking, summerhouses and more.

Established in 1971, the business is run by owner Chris West, managing director Sean Boyd and director Oliver West. The ambitious trio plan to transform the property so that it benefits from a new kitchen and bathroom showroom to provide customers with a hands-on shopping experience.

Explaining the decision to open the branch, owner Chris West said: “Beverley is an up-and-coming location which has plans to build thousands of new homes. Coming to the town fits in perfectly with our business model because it’s a natural expansion to our regional footprint.

“Having been in business for 50 years, we already have a number of customers in Beverley and the Hull area and we’re hoping this strategic move will help us to attract a few more.

“We’re a family-owned company that prides itself on providing good consistent stock levels and great service. We are also committed to having consistent pricing, unlike some builders’ merchants who have different price depending on which branch you use.

“We’ve signed an initial 25-year lease and both myself and the rest of the management team at West Building Supplies are extremely excited about what the future will bring.”

Divisional director Ben Cooper, who conducted the deal for PPH Commercial on behalf of the landlord, believes West Building Supplies are now in a perfect location achieve their long-term growth aspirations.

He said: “Beverley is proving to be a very attractive place for a lot of national retailers, especially those in the building trade, because it’s a thriving town which is benefiting from significant investment.

“Hopefully, this move will allow West Building Supplies to continue their natural growth and enjoy success for many more years to come.”
