Screwfix arrives in Driffield to provide new jobs boost for the market town
ONE of the UK’s best-known trade names and a host of new jobs are coming to Driffield after PPH Commercial helped to secure the prestigious tenant on a long-term lease.
Having been appointed to market the speculative 7,500 sq ft new-build commercial development on Skerne Park, Skerne Road, PPH were thrilled to open negotiations with Screwfix.
After agreeing to become the main tenant at the three-unit premise, Screwfix will soon be ready to open their doors.
PPH Commercial divisional director Ben Cooper, who helped bring the national tenant to the town by acting as letting agent for the owner, believes it will be a popular addition with both tradesmen and DIYers.
He said: “This high-quality space will not only help to expand their business; it will create new full and part-time jobs whilst providing residents with a useful asset. It’s a win, win situation for everyone.”
The new-build site was the brainchild of local builder Guy Brigham – and the developer, who lives in nearby Kilham, is thrilled to have attracted a well-known tenant.
“After working in the construction industry more than 20 years, I’d always wanted to design, build and own a large commercial premise,” explained Guy.
“When PPH advised me that they had entered talks with Screwfix to become the main anchor tenant, I was thrilled because they’re one of the biggest and most prestigious names in the building game.”
