OPENING OF SECOND STYLISH MENSWEAR STORE PROVES BEVERLEY IS FASHIONABLE PLACE TO DO BUSINESS

The stylish menswear and lifestyle retailer has agreed a deal with PPH Commercial to move in to the premises recently vacated by North Bar Kitchens & Interiors.

The Modern Draper is owned by Chris Terry and fiancée Lisa Brown and their newest store will be just a stone’s throw from the current shop on the other side of the road in North Bar Within. The long-term plan is for the new location to focus on selling sporty, outdoor brands.

Matt Penrose, who conducted the deal on behalf of PPH, believes the decision to open another shop proves the town is going from strength to strength.

Mr Penrose said: “Beverley is an extremely attractive market town which continues to boast huge appeal for a wide range of national and local independent retailers.

“There's always a high demand when high-quality retail space becomes available, as has been shown by the recent addition of upmarket brands like The White Company, Space NK and Jo Malone.

“Having enjoyed great success in its current location, I’m sure that The Modern Draper will continue to thrive as it expands into a second high-profile premises on North Bar Within.

“It’s a very spacious unit which will offer plenty of room for the business to grow and flourish. Hopefully, it will allow Chris and his team to achieve their long-term ambitions because a thriving independent economy is vital to Beverley’s ongoing success.”

Mr Terry added: “We will be separating our mix of brands across the two locations. The new store will be sporty, outdoor brands.

“There are lots of really great independent businesses, such as Bug Vinyl record shop and The Pig & Whistle bistro, as well as national retailers like Space NK coming in.

“It’s changing people’s perceptions of Beverley, which is becoming quite fashionable. It’s not without its challenges sometimes but on the whole it’s really great out there.”
