Buyer sought for Former Clugston Group Headquarters in Scunthorpe
St Vincent House sits in 3.6 acres off Normanby Road, in Scunthorpe, and the company headquarters boasts an imposing appearance – thanks to its distinctive two-storey design.
The generous site contains a number of private and general offices, meeting rooms, stores and staff facilities. Elsewhere on the grounds, there is a maintenance office and workshop, temporary office structure and greenhouses.
Interestingly, there is also a two-bedroom bungalow with detached garage and car port – a nod to the family business which was founded by Leonard Clugston in 1937.
Duncan Willey, the divisional director for Lincolnshire at PPH Commercial, has been tasked with finding a buyer and he’s confident it will appeal to a number of potential new owners.
Mr Willey said: “Whilst it is disappointing when a company the size of Clugston closes, hopefully the availability of the building will reintroduce a similar number of jobs going forward.
“The site is priced competitively to sell, and it is a good quality building with a good level of car parking and excellent potential to expand.
“There are definitely a variety of opportunities for the site going forward, subject to planning, and I’m sure someone with vision will be able to see the opportunity at hand.”
Clugston’s led the way in the early road and runway development, with technology developed in Scunthorpe licenced throughout the world.
The business was handed down to son John Clugston, who spent 35 years at the helm before the group went into administration earlier this year with the loss of almost 250 jobs.
Last month, the distribution arm of the company was bought out by a consortium led by Alistair Clugston, who was not a director in the group, which operated separately.
Clugston Estates Ltd, a further arm of the business, has not been affected by the administration and continues to trade under the control of its directors.
