ARCHITECTURAL GEM WILL BECOME OLD TOWN’S NEWEST LUXURIOUS CITY LIVING COMPLEX
But the changing face of Hull’s city centre means the imposing Old Town building, on Silver Street, will soon be transformed into a luxurious inner-city apartment and leisure complex.
PPH Commercial recently sold the freehold to Kamdar Properties Ltd – an ambitious London-based property developer which is converting the five upper floors of this architectural gem into an initiative befitting its character and charm.
Owner Suraj Kamdar has set a ten-month build schedule for the development to be completed and the apartments should be brought to market in Summer 2020.
Measuring approximately 11,700sqft and lying in the heart of the Old Town, Suffolk House was marketed for £500,000 with consent granted for eight luxurious two-bedroom apartments and two others with single bedrooms.
PPH Commercial director Ben Cooper, who helped negotiate the sale of Suffolk House, believes the property is ideal for residential conversion.
Mr Cooper said: “It’s an exciting building with a lot of potential. This area of the Old Town has enjoyed considerable regeneration in the last few years, with several residential and leisure schemes being completed, together with the regeneration of the nearby Hull indoor market.
“The building is in a convenient location for young professionals and benefits from great access to businesses, shops and leisure facilities, such as the hugely-popular Fruit Market development.
“City centre living continues to be very popular, particularly amongst young people who want leisure activities on their doorstep, and this development should attract significant interest once complete.”
On the ground floor, Oscar’s bar is unaffected by the Suffolk House redevelopment and will continue to operate as normal.
